The PPQM is awarded to clinics whose services are centred on it its users and are flexible and responsive to the needs of patients, acknowledging you as partners in your own care. This approach to care will characterise your visit to Stockton Chiropractic Clinic.

Before First Consultation

When you first get in touch you will speak to one of our friendly reception team. If you would like to speak directly to a chiropractor please ask and we will make sure that happens. You can ask any questions you like, and if you make an appointment you can ask to see a female or male chiropractor. It is important to us that you feel comfortable when you come and see us.

To give you the best care we possibly can, we like to learn as much about your health and what might be affecting it before your first consultation. The form we give you to fill out asks about you, you and your family's medical history, previous treatment you may have had, and information about your work and lifestyle. The form takes around 10 minutes to complete prior to your intital consultation.

First Consultation

The first consultation takes up to an hour, and consists of a thorough chat about your current problem, and a comprehensive physical examination. Examination can include observing your posture and the way you walk, palpation of the spine and/or other joints and muscles, specific orthopaedic tests which help us diagnosis your problem, and testing of your nervous system including muscle tests and reflexes.

Following the examination, a comprehensive report of findings will be given to you - i.e. we will explain what we think is going on, and the best way forward, whether this is commencing chiropractic treatment, referring you for further imaging such as an x-ray or MRI scan, or referring you to another healthcare professional who can help you.

If chiropractic care is appropriate for you, we will explain the prognosis of your complaint, how many treatments we predict you will need, and the proposed cost of the treatment plan. When you are happy with this information, treatment can begin, often at the first visit for straightforward complaints.

As the initial consultation is very thorough, we will ask you to remove your outer clothes and wear a gown. A private changing area is provided. If you have any concerns about this, please let us know.

Subsequent Treatment

Depending on your complaint, we will let you know how many treatments we think you will need in order to get you back to normal. Subsequent treatments last between 20-30 minutes and the amount of days inbetween treatments is tailored to the individual. To start with, we will focus on reducing pain levels and improving your mobility, but fairly quickly you can expect some homework, which will focus on improving your core stability and the way you move and help to keep you well once you are feeling better.
