In my early twenties, I was a stage and production manager, involving heavy awkward lifting. This caused the inevitable low back problems, and I was advised by a colleague to visit a chiropractor.
I was very impressed with the results of my treatment, and decided to study for a 5 year Masters degree in chiropractic at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, where I graduated with distinction. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Chiropractic Practice, and am currently working towards a diploma in Westerm Medical Acupuncture.
I came to Stockton Chiropractic Clinic in August 2008, and am really pleased to be working in the North of England again. In my experience, nowhere is as friendly and down-to-earth as the north east, and I regard it as my true home.
As well as providing treatment, I am very aware of the importance of exercises and lifestyle advice and I like to work with people to help them take control of their situation, ease their pain and improve their quality of life.
I have two georgeous children, and consequently spend most of my spare time with my family; I enjoy walking the dog, horse-riding, cooking and learning the piano (slowly!).
Back to topI am from Darlington and have lived in the north most of my life.
I moved to Stockton Chiropractic Clinic in July 2007 where I am now enjoying treating my patients and resolving their pain and improving their functional ability. I believe strongly in the importance of having good postural control, maintaining a healthy spine and living a healthy lifestyle in order to live a full and productive life.
I became a chiropractor after being treated for a long-term lower back complaint and was so impressed with the results of my treatment that I decided to study chiropractic after completing my first university degree at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Reducing people's pain and improving their functional ability is incredibly satisfying and I am delighted to be helping people in the same way as I was helped by my chiropractor.
In my spare time I enjoy running, cycling, gym, walking my dogs and learning Spanish. Bienvenido!
Back to topI originally hail from Greater Manchester, but have been living in the north east since 2003. I obtained a degree in Applied Biological Sciences from the University of the West of England and this is when I first became interested in human physiology and anatomy. After taking a few years out to see the world, I decided to train as a Chiropractor and studied at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in Cardiff, qualifying in 2002.
My approach to treatment is from a biomechanical viewpoint: diagnosing the physical cause of symptoms, correcting the underlying problem and therefore controlling further symptoms that may be caused by physical loads and stresses.
I am keen to help patients return to a normal life following an injury and also rehabilitating those patients with spinal disc problems through appropriate exercise and lifestyle changes that can help maintain your improvement alongside Chiropractic treatment.
I enjoy living in the north east, not least because I am able to make the most of the many beaches and bracing winds that allow me to go kitesurfing whenever possible and on windy days I can often be found on the sea at Redcar and North Gare. My other interests include running, cooking and snowboarding.
Back to topI am currently on maternity leave expecting my first baby! I plan to return to Stockton Chiropractic Clinic in spring 2012.
I initially set my sights on becoming a medical doctor in my home country of Denmark. However a friend of mine had an accident and injured her back and neck. I gave her a lift to the local chiropractor and he invited me into the treatment room and spoke to me about chiropractic.
I immediately felt completely fascinated by how effectively and gently he could help ease her pain. I was awestruck and knew then that I had found what I wanted to spend the rest of my time doing.
I moved to England in 1993 to study chiropractic at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. I graduated 1998 with a Masters degree in Chiropractic and started working at Stockton Chiropractic Clinic. I have been a member of the British Chiropractic Association and College of Chiropractors since graduating.
Trained to use a range of chiropractic techniques I am also qualified in Western Medical Acupuncture and I am currently undertaking a diploma in Nutritional Therapy. I look forward to incorporating nutrition into my chiropractic work, but will also be welcoming clients for specific problems such as fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraine, food intolerances, digestive problems and weight management.
In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit with dog walking, running and the occasional visit to the gym.
